For Morton Feldman
Mixed media. Automated piano, wool, actor, pianist, animations and original text. Paris, 2017.
A man seeks advice on the tomb of a dead composer. Taking his counsel, he goes to Mesopotamia, imports an obscure cult and a deaf pianist. He’ll find solace and madness in sabotaging one of the pillars of our civilization : language.
Morton Feldman described his music as a “vibrating stasis”. The performance aims at making this as real as can be. The original text is a dark lovecraftian take on contemporary terrorism, interwoven with the wonderful “Palais de Mari” score, 1986 piano piece played by Barbara Dang on stage.
This is not a concert nor a lecture, it’s a sculpture, presented for 33 minutes.
