Corps diplomatique

Corps diplomatique

To carry on a thought experiment in the field of physics or in analytical philosophy is to try and solve a problem through the only power of imagination. Corps diplomatique is carrying out on stage what should only be a thought experiment. What if we found technical solutions to let artists drift in a space station for a few thousand years with only one mission : to procreate, to write a play, rehearse it, and educate the next generation in doing so, generation after generation ? How quick would they go nuts ? What would their art look like ?

A local journalist has just made it to the international space station, on board with Corps Diplomatique, an amateur astronaut crew which is about to drift in space and write performing art daily. In this rotting kingdom, they try desperately to perpetuate the spirit of our society as well as the principles of art and especially drama itself. The play is staging the rise and fall of this utopian microcommunity and its ideals. It is an hymn to our sometime pathetic and stubborn efforts to keep up with civilisation and culture.

Corps Diplomatique is a brilliant satire about life, art, and procrastinating on an infinite deadline (S. Bourke, Sunday Business Post – 04/10/15)
